Gubernatorial candidate Randy Boyd posted on his campaign’s Facebook page late Tuesday evening that he is opposed to sanctuary cities, and urged residents of Davidson County to tell their Metro Council members to oppose the proposed sanctuary city ordinace.
“Sanctuary Cities are illegal,” Boyd’s post began.
“Washington has made a complete mess of our immigration system. But here in Tennessee, we will follow the law and must say NO to illegal immigration and Sanctuary Cities,” Boyd said.
“I encourage everyone in Metro Nashville/Davidson County to quickly contact their Metro Council members and encourage them to strongly oppose these Metro ordinances that would ignore the law. If I’m elected Governor, I will work to make sure there are no Sanctuary Cities in Tennessee on my watch, ” Boyd concluded.
Later on Tuesday evening, Boyd released a slightly longer version of his Facebook post as a statement on his campaign website, which included an extra sentence in which he “commend[ed] our state’s legislative leaders for speaking out.”:

Boyd is one of three announced candidates for the Republican nomination for governor in 2018. Both of his announced opponents, State Senator Mae Beavers (R-Mt. Juliet) and Williamson County businessman Bill Lee, issued statements strongly opposing Nashville’s proposed sanctuary city ordinance last week.
Two unannounced but expected candidates for the Republican gubernatorial nomination – Speaker Beth Harwell (R-Nashville) and Rep. Diane Black (R-TN-06) also issued statements strongly opposing Nashville’s proposed sanctuary city ordinance last week.
Late Tuesday evening, The Tennessee Star reported that the two Metro Nashville Council members who sponsored the ordinance will be pulling it from consideration for a vote on a third and final reading at the scheduled July 6 meeting of the Metro Nashville Council.

Sorry Randy, your past speaks louder than these words you are speaking to try and fool people into electing you–no deal.
Only a fool would believe that Randy Boyd aka La Raza Randy who donated 250,000 Grande to a pro amnesty group and waited a week to comment on the sanctuary city issue would fight against sanctuary cities in Tennessee.
